| We lost this mare after a tough foaling, ending in emergency c section, the foal survived 8 days with heroic efforts to say him by our farm team: Steve, Fairan, Trish, Pat, Wayne, myself, and special thanks to Dr. Kerry Kablack for being "human" proving not all vets see horses as numbers and going that EXTRA mile in helping me save Bruce! I have the whole "C section" on video, the foaling camera was running....Steve and I were shoulder deep in our mare's intestines trying to get this colt out...it was an event I NEVER want to repeat and am grateful to GOD that I could give the foal a chance...by all logic the colt SHOULD NOT have ever taken a breath but it was GOD'S will that he lived as long as he did...we kept him in the house, I fed and doctored him every hour and slept with him every night! It was like loosing a child when he had to be put down due to aspiration pnuemonia! | ||
